On 14 December 2012 a mass shooting occurred at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newton, Connecticut in which 20 first grade children and 6 staff members were killed.
A year later, the elementary school children in Rye, New York, made a collection and installed this bench in Rye Town Park. The inscription says it all: "We are Sandy Hook. We Choose Love"
In December, the tree behind the bench is bare, but the children decorate it with lively colours.

Well done Habib. This is a lovely memorial to the horrible event that occurred in your vicinity. Kudos to the children for their nice idea of a bench as well as well as decorating the bare tree behind it.
