Help

  • Where can I find a list of all members?
    • You can find any member who has contributed an article on the blog, by searching for the name in the 'search colleagues' field in the sidebar. For the full list of all members, including those who prefer to remain silent, check out the directory of our members.
  • What is the benefit of membership
    • Companionship with those who have a lifeexperience similar to yours.
    • One weekly email reminding you to visit the blog. Of course you can visit the blog any time you like. We encourage you to do so, as new articles are posted several times a week.
  • How do I find an older article?
    • If you know the author and/or a colleague who was mentioned in that articles: Go to 'search colleagues' and check for the name. Click it.
    • If you know the month in which the article was published: Go to 'archive' in the sidebar and click the downward arrow. A list will show every month starting from 2018, also indicating  the number of posts published during each months. Click the month.
    • Type one or more search words, such as the name of a person, the author, a location or other key word into the search field on the top of the screen. Google will provide you short list of posts that match your criteria, but try the other methods first.

  • How do I submit an article to be posted on the blog?
    • Instructions for submitting an article are found here
  • How do I comment on an article?
    • Click the button under the article, which says ‘Enter your comment…’. A dialogue will open, giving you the choice to comment under the name of your google account (if you have one); or to comment as anonymous (which we don't like); or to enter your name/url (recommended if you do not have a google account). Enter your name here (don't bother about the url).
    • If you are not sure that your name appears, start the comment by giving your name first.
  • How do I respond to a comment made by someone else?
    • Press the ‘reply’ button under the comment to which you wish to respond. Proceed as explained above.

  • Can I share an article with my own network?
    • You are welcome to share any article published on our blog. Just click the 'Share' button found at the end of each article.
  • How do I add my photo or 'user picture' to my comments?
    • To add your photo – also called avatar – to your comments is a great idea, as readers see at a glance who is commenting. Add a userpic to your email account. Gmail and most email providers give you the option to add a picture in a section called ‘my account’ or similar.
  • I want to access the XUNICEF website at my own leisure, but I find it difficult to access it.
    • Add xunicefnewsandviews.blogspot.com as a shortcut to your smartphone and as a bookmark on your computer.
      • For Android smartphone: Go to the home page of our website. Tap the three dots in the right upper corner of the browser – this is the line at the top of your screen that also displays the web address of the site. Then tap ‘Add to Homescreen’. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut and an icon for our website will be added to your homescreen. The icon will appear like any other shortcut or widget, so you can drag it around and put it wherever you like.
      • For IPhone: Go to the home page of our website. Tap the Share button— that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward. It’s on the bar at the top of the screen on an iPad, and on the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone. Tap the ‘Add to Home Screen’ icon in the Share menu. You’ll be prompted to name the shortcut before tapping the Add button. The shortcut can be dragged around and placed anywhere, just like a normal app icon.
  • I cannot see a sidebar on my smartphone
    • Press the three horizontal bars in the upper right corner of the website.  It looks like this:

  1. How can I get and share a French translation of an article?

    ReplyDelete
  2. @Solofo

There is a translate button in the right margin of the blog.
There also is a share button at the end of each article.

If you don't see the right margin, you see a packet of three little horizontal lines in the top right corner of your screen. The three little lines are often called the 'hamburger'. When you tap the hamburger, the right margin will show.
