Beverly by Myra Rudin

Never having owned a dog, I don't feel compelled to stop and chitchat with the thousands of dog owners (and paid dog walkers) as they stroll with their pets several times a day on NYC streets. Every breed, every size and color, sometimes do warrant a second look for their beauty and/or personality.

But this day, having spotted a dog with a bonnet around her head, I asked the owner if her dog had a medical problem. "Oh no", she said, "Beverly has such long ears, we need to protect them when she walks, as they sway against the dirty streets."

Just recently, I bumped into Beverly again, sporting a different bonnet, and was told she wears many different ones, "according to her mood".....
