I just discovered that a new cruise ship for the rivers in Europe will be launched in 2027. It will be named The Audrey in memory of our UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Audrey Hepburn. I am not sure but it is probably the first time a cruise ship is named after a movie star and a beloved humanitarian. Those of us among the XUnicef family who knew her or about her distinguished services to children will be delighted by this news. Wouldn’t it be a good idea if one of our annual Reunions were organized on board the ship in one of its river cruises . Something to think about ???

There is an upcoming luxury river cruise ship named the S.S. Audrey, which is designed in honor of Audrey Hepburn.

Owned by Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, this brand-new "Super Ship" is scheduled to officially launch on April 16, 2027.

• The Voyage & ConnectionThe Route: The ship will sail the Rhine River and its Dutch and Belgian tributaries. This path directly honors Hepburn, who was born in Belgium and spent part of her youth in the Netherlands.
• Capacity: It is a smaller-scale, highly intimate vessel built for just 154 passengers and 57 crew members.
• Onboard Design & HomagesMid-Century Aesthetic: The interiors lean heavily into the mid-20th-century European look of Hepburn's era, highlighting green, gold, and blue color palettes.
• Special Touches: The ship includes functional touches of her signature style, featuring elements like Delft pottery to respect her Dutch roots, geometric prints, and original artwork tracking her career.
• "Little Black Dress" Dining: Most notably, the onboard private dining room is uniquely modeled after her most famous look—the legendary Givenchy black dress and pearls from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The S.S. Audrey will make its debut alongside a sister ship, the S.S. Marlene (honoring Marlene Dietrich), as part of Uniworld's Hollywood glamour fleet expansions.
