FAFICS Elects New Leadership at its 56th Council Session, by Souleymane Diabate

The 56th Session of the Council of the Federation of Associations of Former International Civil Servants (FAFICS) was held in Vienna, Austria, from 20 to 24 July 2026.
FAFICS is the global federation of associations representing former international civil servants, the vast majority of whom are retired staff members of the United Nations system and related organisations. Its member associations, commonly known as AFICS (Associations of Former International Civil Servants), work to promote and protect the interests and welfare of UN retirees worldwide.
The Council elected a new leadership team for the Federation:
President: Darshak Shah (AFICS New York)
Vice-Presidents: Nancy Hurtz-Soyka (AFICS New York), Maria Machicado (AFICS Bolivia), and Aye Win (AFICS Myanmar)
Treasurer: Peter Wichmand (AFICS Geneva)
Auditors: Ambi Sundaran (AFICS Geneva) and Jessie Rose Mabutas (AFICS Philippines)
Darshak Shah succeeds Jerry Barton, former President of ARICSA Vienna, who served the Federation with distinction.
On behalf of the Association Ivoirienne des Anciens Fonctionnaires Internationaux du Système des Nations Unies (AIAFI-SNU), President Souleymane Diabaté extended warm congratulations to the newly elected officers and wished them every success in advancing the mission of FAFICS and serving its member associations and the wider community of UN retirees.
