For those football fans among us, especially those whose national teams participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, there is a certain void in our daily routines, and one can’t help but ask “any game this afternoon?”.
Ok, I guess everyone knows the WC ended last weekend. On Saturday, 18 July, England and France were competing for third place. It was a very unusual game with England getting four goals in the first half, and France slowly catching up in the second. But England won 6:4.
On Sunday the Final between Spain and Argentina took place. It was intense and went into overtime. Spain got the winning goal after almost 120 minutes.
At half-time, children were performing and reminding the fans and FiFA that the ultimate goal should be friendship and love.
Indeed some of us are at a loss as this grand event ends - gave us something to look forward to. But, how sad that the leader of the "free world" is in the last photo slumping away from the stage. Even the King and Queen of Spain knew the this moment was for the Spanish team. ASIDE FROM THIS distraction - it was a lovely few weeks.
