We spent a few days relaxing at the Stonehaven Manor in the village of Ste. Agathe des Monts in thé Laurentian mountains. It is not a ski resort nor a particularly popular vacation destination, so we were intrigued by the presence of this hotel which is part of the upscale Relais et Châteaux group. What an agreeable surprise was in store for us!

We spent a few days relaxing at the Stonehaven Manor in the village of Ste. Agathe des Monts in thé Laurentian mountains. It is not a ski resort nor a particularly popular vacation destination, so we were intrigued by the presence of this hotel which is part of the upscale Relais et Châteaux group. What an agreeable surprise was in store for us!
The grounds are beautifully kept with ancient trees dominating the two main buildings all of which looks down on the Lac du Sable. But what really impressed us was the interior decorations of the establishment. A veritable museum of art deco furniture, artifacts, lamps and chandeliers, original paintings, all displayed in the most elegant manner. Rarely have we seen such a rich and outstanding collection outside well known museums.
The friendly and excellent service as well as the impressive cuisine worthy of a Michelin star added to our pleasure. The icing on the cake was our accidentally meeting the owners of the estate and being taken on a personal tour by the lady of the house to some of their high end rooms and suites. An unexpected treat that made our stay truly exceptional.
