Our host was Umberto Cancillieri, the sumptuous repast was Mediterranean, and Nadia and I were greatly pleased by the presence of Saad and Hoda Houry, Gordon Alexander, and Mariangela Bavvichi. Catching up on each others news was the theme of the event. We were missing two spouses, Alicia Cancillieri and Isabel Alexander, but their presence was spiritually there as we enjoyed reminiscing about “good old times”. With Gordon the unique posting in Hanoi in the early 1980’s, with Umberto the iconic visit to Vietnam Nam by 24 NatComs in 1981, with Mariangela the halcyon days of Africa Section during the early to mid 1980’s and with Saad our very early roots in UNICEF Beirut with Rachid Koleilat as Rep. Such memories are what binds us together and we hope that many more mini reunions will be enjoyed by all. More photos below ...
