Frosty Winter |
I started working with water-color as a paint medium, some 12 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. On reflection, I am seldom really 'happy' or 'satisfied' with the results. However, I am heartened to know that others seem to like my paintings and some of my artworks even attract buyers.
Unfortunately, we had to permanently close our Gallery in Meersburg due to the COVID pandemic. As luck would have it, we found a small space on the ground floor of the building where we live We converted it into an atelier/studio. Karsten has his corner and I have mine, with some space left for a table where we play cards, scrabble, invite guests for coffee and tea. I also have a German lady who comes to our atelier once a week for 'English conversation' lessons (we laugh a lot and have become good friends in the process).
The atelier is open twice a week, and now and again an odd customer finds his/her way inside.
I sell a few cards, and also an occasional artwork. Fortunately, we don't have to depend on these sales to make ends meet!!
My water-color paint teacher was quite charmed by our atelier, and suggested we hold our weekly Monday afternoon painting class there (instead of in her home!). We are only three persons now, it is working out well, and very enjoyable.
Karsten has various other interests and skills, therefore he doesn't paint as much as I do, but I'm glad if he joins me now and again, and also sits there, engrossed in the colors, mixing, painting, and losing track of time.
Inspiration often comes from nature, especially from the four different seasons. We live in a really beautiful part of the country. With Lake Constance in front of us, the Alps often visible on the other side of the lake, lots of hills, vineyards, fruit-plantations and plenty of quaint towns along with a few well known historical places, too (like Meersburg, Überlingen, Konstanz, Friedrichshafen, Lindau, just to name a few!).
Hope you will enjoy five of my paintings (30 x 40 cms each) in water-colors.
Lovely story, Stella, and beautiful paintings. Frosty Winter and Autumn are my favorites, and I would love to see Lake Constance also in bright sunlight. . Flower Power is perfect for July.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your enjoyable text and illustrations of your artistic work and arrangements around it, for many to enjoy👍🥰
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Loved them!
DeleteDear Stella, Wow! beautiful paintings. I find them like natural but with some deep nuance to say it in my totally underdeveloped artistic sense. I like the flowers best. They bring a sense of beauty and happiness. Best wishes Soma
ReplyDeleteBeautiful story and incredible paintings. As I read, I walked through your simple, beautiful snippets of lives that you shared. Many thanks!
