CIGNA Premium 'Holiday' : AFICS/NY

Dear AFICS/NY members:

The Governing Board of AFICS/NY is pleased to forward to you the announcement recently made by the UN's Health and Life Insurance Section (HLIS) that a one-month premium holiday is to be applied at the end of this month to those participating in the Cigna Dental Insurance plan and the UN Worldwide plan. Please see the announcement below from the HLIS as posted on their website.

Premium Holiday for ASHI participants in the Worldwide Plan and the UN Cigna Dental Plan

The UN's Health and Life Insurance Section (HLIS) is pleased to advise that, in accordance with the 2023-2024 health insurance renewal exercise that granted a one-month premium holiday, this rebate is now being processed for eligible participants enrolled in the UN Worldwide plan and for eligible participants enrolled in the UN Cigna Dental plan. As per premium holiday provisions, eligible participants will receive a holiday of one-month's contribution to the plan.

To be eligible for the premium holiday you must have been enrolled in respectively the UN Worldwide Plan or the UN Cigna Dental plan in each of the following periods:1 July 2022 through 1 July 2023
Any date in June 2024

After-Service Health Insurance (ASHI) participants meeting the eligibility criteria above will receive a refund from either the UN Worldwide plan, or the UN Cigna Dental premium contribution which was already deducted from your June 2024 pension emolument. This refund will be reflected in your October pension payment.

Please note that this premium holiday will have no impact on your insurance coverage, which will be uninterrupted. This one-time rebate is the Organization's way of sharing, with plan participants, savings generated from good claims experience.
