Happy Bangla New year––Pohela Baishakh : Nuzhat Shahzadi

I thought it would be nice to wish our readers on Pohela Baishakh or Bangla New year (Shuvo Noboborsho) celebrated on 14th April in Bangladesh.

New year is celebrated on this day in Nepal (Navavarsha), Sri Lanka (Avurudu: 13 & 14 th April), and by Indian Tamils (Puthandu) and Bengalees in west Bengal (Noboborsho). 14th April is also celebrated as the first day of the new year by the Tamil population in Singapore, Mauritius and Malaysia.

The new year is celebrated on 13 April in Cambodia (Chaul Chnam Thmey), in Thailand (Songkran), Laos (Pi Mai).
