Security Council - After Threatening to Veto Algerian Ceasefire Resolution, the US proposes instead a 'Temporary Ceasefire' : Reuters
Article shared by Tom McDermott
There are signs that the US position on Israel's war on Palestinians in Gaza are shifting - albeit slow and far too late,. The first visible sign at the Security Council when the US delegation attempted to head off an Algerian resolution calling for a ceasefire, by proposing instead 'a temporary ceasefire'. This seems not only aimed at undermining the widely supported Algerian resolution, but also signalling to Israel that US support may weaken if Israel proceeds with its threat of full invasion of Rafah.
