It is my great pleasure to announce the following recent senior staff appointments. With these appointments, we have made progress towards geographic parity in the SSR cadre, with 49% programme country nationals and 51% industrial country nationals. We have also maintained the 50%/50% gender parity achieved in 2019. As part of our continuous effort to make UNICEF a more diverse and inclusive organization, we remain committed to achieving even greater diversity and equity.

Congratulations and best wishes to the long list of new appointees by the Executive Director. In my past many years with UNICEF, I never remember seeing such a long list of appointments at one time. I guess there is always first for everything. Good luck and much success to all and thank you for serving chldren and women all over the world especially those in the most vulnerable part of our planet.
