Where do our XUNICEF members live?

In our "where I live" series, Gautam Banerji takes us on a delightful journey across continents. He shares glimpses of the homes that stole his heart! Click here to read Gautam’s charming story.

This week Samphe Lhalungpa has answered our 10 Questions. We also noticed that due to an error, last week's  link to the 10 Questions by Deepa Grover was temporarily faulty. If you missed it, check out now Deepa Grover's responses.

To see at a glance our members who so far have sent in their responses, click here.

Share your own short answers to the same 10 simple questions, including any advice you may have for the UNICEF Executive Director. Send your own responses to us at xunicef.news.views@gmail.com.

Happy Nowruz to all !!

Nowruz holidays will begin on March 21st. Many of our colleagues will be celebrating Nowruz, the Feast of the "New Day". This first day of spring is an important recognition of the "new beginnings" of nature especially in the northern hemisphere.

Ukraine

The ongoing war in the Ukraine continues to dominate the news and - depending where you live - you might find it hard to concentrate on your daily routines or anything else.  We have many articles dealing with the crisis, and it would be best if you scroll through our posts on the blog and choose for yourself. Or simply click the label 'Ukraine' which you find next or after any post related to the Ukraine.

Perhaps you already asked yourself: Where is the UN SG?, or what you and the UNICEF family can do to assist the refugees fleeing the war zone.  For this, we recommend the two articles by our member Witold Smyk (here and here), who lives in Poland.

What becomes clearer by the minute is that that this violent conflict is going to have a global impact, and that people who are poor are most likely to suffer the most.

One outfall of the war is that global attention is diverted from KurdistanAfghanistan, or Yemen, where the situation remains tenuous and the needs are as large as ever.

Pension

Notwithstanding the official statement that the UN Pension Fund remain strong and stable, the Global Staff Association has shared a petition to the UN SG against the outsourcing of part of the pension fund assets. If you are interested in the matter, click here. There is also Fact Sheet on the UN Pension Blog.
