Together we can transform the world for children – Interview with Karin Hulshof: For Every Child Podcast Series
Hearing some of the career highlights shared by former Regional Director and Chief of Staff, Karin Hulshof, at times sounds like an adventure novel.
From her early days in Guatemala, where she and her family were held at gunpoint during a terrifying home invasion, to experiencing first-hand the devastation wrought by Nepal’s deadly 2015 earthquake, Karin has borne witness to some extra-ordinary events during her decades long journey with UNICEF.
Karin discusses what inspired her life as a humanitarian, what it means to be an effective leader and how we can Reimagine a better future for UNICEF through honest, open and inclusive discussion.
“Together we can transform the world for children,” she says. “We have to be clear about the stubborn topics that we need to address, embrace the emerging ones…climate change, mental health…find ways to be directive and nondirective, and we need creative and honest debates, during the times we hit roadblocks or when we’re at a crossroads, to find our best way forward.”
