Death is not extinguishing the light. It is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.
- Rabindranath Tagore

Satish was a career civil servant, dedicating 35 years of his life working for UNICEF, fighting for the rights of children in the most vulnerable conditions of the earth. He was passionate about his work, caring and loving, and cherished everyone he encountered. He spread joy to everyone he met. He loved to cook, garden, sail, and listen to music. He loved our family pets, Bun Bun, Millie, and Mishan and they adored him. Exuberant and opinionated, he lit up any room with his charismatic presence, lively stories, empathy and care. With a quirky sense of humor, he always wanted to solve problems, with determination and infectious optimism.
Satish passed away on August 12, after a three-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. We miss him terribly, but are so grateful for the time we had with him. He fought his disease with the same characteristic grit with which he approached everything else, and while his last years were difficult, they were also filled with moments of joy - trips to the philharmonic and to museums and theater and visits from friends and colleagues.
We invite his friends, relatives and colleagues to share their favorite memories of Satish, so please let us know ahead of time if you would like to speak during the memorial, and we will send out a program ahead of time. You can email his daughter Smitha at SmithaKhorana@gmail.com.
The memorial is invite-only, but please feel free to forward to colleagues and friends who knew Satish well.
