Bi-Weekly Web Update - 15 to 29 September 2019

Editor's Corner:

CRC@30 - The UN General Assembly opened last week and in a High Level Commemoration celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the CRC . This event served as a kickoff to what will be an exciting series of celebrations.  The period is an important opportunity to remind ourselves, our neighbors, and our governments of the rights of children and the obligations we all share. Retirees can play an important role in these events.  Please contact your UNICEF country office or National Committee to see what they plan and how you can help.  Remember too the other organizations and child advocacy groups who will be celebrating the anniversary with us.

The Arts & Artists of XUNICEF - we sent out the latest quarterly newsletter last week and hope that you received and are enjoying it.  In case you missed it, here is another link or you can always find it on our website.

We were a bit disappointed not to receive more comments on the edition.  Some friends have suggested that readers may have found it difficult to reach the artists’ galleries, so we are now presenting the galleries in a new slideshow format.

Now when you open each artist's gallery and click on the ‘play button’ the photos should appear in full screen and will automatically move ahead as a  slideshow. Please let us know whether you like this format.

Gianni Murzi -  We are pleased to announce that Gianni Murzi has agreed to join the News & Views editorial team.  In addition to his extensive international experience, Gianni brings to our team extraordinary skills in photography.  He will help us improve the visual content of News & Views. You also may have noticed our announcement in last week’s quarterly that Gianni has established an XUNICEF Instagram channel which you can find here.  Send Gianni your contributions.  He will be running contests to highlight our best photos.  Among them could be yours.

Reunion - we hope all of our reunion-goers are home or nearly home by now, following their good times in Armenia and Georgia.  As happened last year at Bangalore, the participants have put together a shared album of photos from the reunion. There are so far nearly 500 photos, and we expect that more will be added once everyone reaches home.  You can find their full album here.  For those who are not up to viewing the whole, we asked Gianni Murzi and Gautam Banerji to put together a much smaller selection which you can view here.

And what about next year’s reunion?  Where will it be?  That’s the question we are all waiting to find out.  Have your views? Please share.
