Hello dear editors, I like the Updates very much and only wished I had more time to read it all. Here a couple of comments. 1. The history stories are fascinating and so well written. It really keeps the reader in suspense, even after the lifting of the veil. Hoover and Pate were amazing personalities and it was good to learn about UNICEF history from this very beginning. 2. I was also happy to see the UNICEF web sites. Very well done. 3. Detlef gives a different perspective of our "younger" staff, which was fun. 4. And the funnies are always an important part in taking away gloomy thoughts. 5. I loved the quotes and shared them with a former UN colleague, who also liked them, but observed that there was no woman among the group. Maybe to consider in one of the next editions? Thanks for the excellent job you are doing. It is most interesting and enjoyable reading. Horst.
Thanks Tom for this piece of interesting history. Austrian postage stamp is great.
The marketing media is just too powerful that continue to influence people everywhere, especially the youth. I see young people driving around despite parking fee being outrageous. It looks like we need one Greta in every city to relay the message on continuous basis.

Having worried as Rep in Ghana, Yemen and Myanmar with very different geopolitical relationships with major donors I am somewhat doubtful if anything will change in short to medium term. But I keep my fingers crossed!
great pictures! echo Fouad's comments, these are extraordinary photographs Sree these are great pictures! extraordinary and combine nature's beauty with the ingenuity of the creative photographer! Detlef, please keep posting more such pictures. Sree
Detlef you continue to inspire. You spark off the dying flame to new light and energy. I guess that’s what UNICEF has always been about. No it’s not dead! Thank you for re-igniting it as a reminder!
Very interesting analysis Ramesh. Agree that today's youth are undeniably the most educated, technologically adept, and wealthiest in history, and it is they who have inherited the mess from their elders as it is encumbent on them to make those societal, cultural and personal changes that could result in a better world. Yet how is it that in Canada the past few years more gas guzzling SUV and trucks have been sold than small sedans, and the buyers are by a large majority these same young adults...especially women.?? Obviously a man of many talents Detlef does not stop impressing his team mates with new features constantly. His forte is looking outside the "bubble" which gives us so many different approaches and alternate views of subjects that interest us all. Great to have you as a collaborator in the XUNICEF News and Views endeavour. Fouad Montreal
70% in admin? That's outrageous. We always prided ourselves for having a low overhead. As to rebellious, I guess I worked in the wrong department. But we sure tried hard.
They are there just buried under a pile of policy, fear of retribution and operational correctness.
Dear Ramesh - very agreeable. More responsible consumption has to become 'cool'. But they also need to keep up the pressure on science, industry and politics.
