From Your Editors

Repeating Our Frequent Appeal for Better Internet Etiquette

Each month or two we lose a few members.  Why? The number one reason they cite is that they receive too many unwanted emails on the XUNICEF network.  Remember that not every one of our 800 members wants to see your message, or your reply to someone else's message.

1.  Is your message so urgent that it must be sent immediately as an email to all 800 members?  Really? Can it not wait until the next Weekly Update?  If it can wait a day or two, send it instead to us at xunicef.news.views@gmail.com.  It will usually appear on the same day on our website and at the end of the week in the Weekly Update.

2.  If "yes, this is urgent and important for all members to see immediately.",  do not address it as:
"To: allmembers@xunicef.com".  Instead, use "Bcc: "

3.  If you receive a message that someone has sent to "allmembers", do not answer using  "Reply All".   Instead, use only "Reply to sender".

Our Artist of the Week - Margherita Amodeo

Margherita presented many of her works in our September 2019 special edition on the Arts and Artists of XUNICEF.  We are pleased to present her full gallery this week, including many works which we were not able to include at that time.  Click here.

The UN@75 Continued

Don't miss Mark Malloch-Brown's UNU Wider lecture - a great review of where the UN has been and where it should go.  Note his tribute to "the legendary Jim Grant". Click here.

Comments to the BBC article on the" United Nations at 75" have continued to arrive.    In fact, so far we have received 21 comments - click here.

Discussion of the Week

Rethinking UNICEF -  Detlef Palm's article on 9 October kicked off a great discussion of UNICEF's programming process.  Detlef has now responded to the many comments. Several members then commented on Detlef's response.   One of the interesting threads of this discussion concerned UNICEF's experience of the Italian contribution which was tied to procurement of Italian vehicles and hiring of Italian personnel.  See Fritz Lherisson's further comment "JPG knew the Stumbling Blocks Ahead".
