Canadian Votes: A Ditty - Fouad Kronfol with Tom McDermott's Rejoinder

Canadian Votes

Canadians showed it once again
And proved they are sane,
Democracy was not in vain,
It was evidently plain.

Come sunshine or come rain,
Even on wheelchairs or with a cane,
All eligible voters in the main,
Did not want to miss the train.

A short month long campaign
With less time and money was no pain,
Despite pressures from our southern bane,
All knew there was a lot to gain.

To not leave a blemish or stain,
Our proven good sense was clearly lain,
Canada and the US will remain,
Neighbours,but never a twain.

A message to our friend, the Dane !

Tom McDermott's Rejoinder:

Thoughts from Below the 49th

We viewed your vote with some dismay,
We waited for some mad display.

We asked ourselves, "Where was the fun?"
Of madness, sadly, there was none.

We waited long, but all in vain,
For wild claims that never came.

No Fox News screams, no MAGA hats,
No rants, no mobs, no invented stats.

We tip our hats to northern kin—
Who showed that truth can still win.

Trump still dreams of you as #51,
But after watching how it’s done,
Most of us just give a cheer
For neighbors steady, sane, and dear

  1. To Fouad & Tom -- Two ditties instead of one, and both so well done!
Yes, it was plain to see that our friends to the north all seem to agree...
That being 51 was something to flee!

  2. I am delighted to say it aloud
Two may be a couple but three is NOT a crowd.
    With our heads duly bowed
We can but say it; we are proud
Even if all this is in the virtual cloud.
