Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government has denied a report by the Associated Press news agency – citing the UN but without a quote – that claims the group has suspended polio vaccinations. Shortly after the report’s publication, which was picked up by other media outlets, the Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Public Health released a statement saying, “There is no official statement regarding banning or stopping the implementation of the vaccine nor is there a ban” in the country.
