Gaza - Communications with Staff Resumed, All Safe for Now : Catherine Russell / Gloria Kodzwa

We are pleased to learn that staff and family are safe for now. We pray for peace in the region and the end of suffering/deaths. Extremely disheartening.

From the Executive Director

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to give you a quick update about the safety of our colleagues in Gaza after we lost contact with them on Friday. We have now been able to reach every one of our UNICEF staff members. But the situation for them, their families and children in Gaza remains incredibly dire. We continue to do everything we can to ensure they are safe and will continue to push for a humanitarian ceasefire and safe access.

We also continue to demand the protection of all civilians and the end to killing and captivity of all children.

Based on your important feedback at the townhall meeting about having easy access to statements and social media, the communications team have updated our ICON page with our public advocacy messages and will continue to update it with information about our humanitarian response in the State of Palestine.

We will continue to strengthen our communications also amongst ourselves. I appreciate your heartfelt comments and am reviewing all of those that came in on-line to ensure appropriate follow-up.

To our dear staff in Gaza, I want to assure you that we will continue to do everything we can to keep you and your loved ones safe. I am so grateful for your commitment and passion for our mission.

I know that many members of our staff all around the world, including those who have served in the region or have ties to the region, are deeply affected by what has been unfolding. Together we must, and will, do everything we can to stand up to the brutal impact of this war on children and defend the rights of every child.

Warm regards,

Cathy Russell
