Fouad: Useful  information about aging, especially in Asia.

Summary: HelpAge International brought together 71 people from its global network in Hangzhou, China, for its Global Network Day, ahead of the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Population Ageing. Participants from Asia, the Middle East, Eurasia and Africa discussed sharing knowledge and experience, collaborating across countries and regions, strengthening connections between members, and placing older people’s voices at the centre of their work. The post emphasised that members create the network together and strengthen their collective voice through a shared purpose.

Quotes:
“One message came through particularly strongly: our network is not something we simply belong to. It is something we create together.”
“And when we come together around a shared purpose, our collective voice is stronger.”
“We talked about what makes our network stronger: learning from one another, sharing knowledge and experience, working together across countries and regions, and making sure older people’s voices are at the heart of our work.”

Comments

  1. I seem to be ageing very rapidly without any help or aid whatsoever. I cannot recall ever receiving assistance in this regard, though whether that reflects reality or the absence or my memory I don't know.

  2. Interestingly, everybody wants to become old, but nobody wants to be old.

Perhaps UNICEF could broaden its focus just a tiny little bit to include help for the aged, so each child can age gracefully.
