Doors let you in, they let you out. Some are inviting, others say “stay out”. As a few XUNICEF members have previously shown, doors can be elegant, artistic, majestic, stately or simple, rustic, even crumbling and dilapidated.
I’ve been taking note of doors during travel and have found many to be photo-worthy, even the shabby ones (it’s character!!).

beautiful photos of an amazing collection of very unique doors. Thanks Myra. Keep looking for more unusual subjects.

ReplyDeleteHola Myra,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
You would love Valencia. Like so many Spanish cities, it is famed for its doors — carved wood, ornate ironwork, brass knockers polished by centuries of hands, colors that have faded into something more beautiful than paint can be on its own. Wander any old street and you'll find half a dozen that stop you in your tracks. They always left me in awe. Sadly, they don't make doors like those anymore — it is a dying art.
Warm regards,
Oscar
What a talent and appreciation of simple things you have.. thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these excellent photos of doors from various settings, from humble to majestic. In Sri Lanka, there is a place called Ambakke, famous for ancient wooden creations, including doors. You'd enjoy a trip there if ever you come to Sri Lanka.
ReplyDeleteA door, is a door, is a door!
ReplyDeleteBut some we haven't seen before
from your collection in store.
Such artistry one can but adore,
It touches humanity to its core
As it examines our common lore.
You have caught it with ardor
Shooting a camera as a chore,
But giving us a panoply galore.
What will you do for an encore?
We definitely want more and more.
Stunning. Very beautiful. As I love doors myself and have photographed plenty - though none as glorious as yours - i really loved yours. You have indeed a very keen eye and your framing is just super. Thanks for sharing. Vivi
ReplyDeleteOh, this is a wonderful collection of photos of different designs and colours of doors. I appreciate the high quality of the photos. Well done, Myra.
