In Search of the Perfect Park Bench by Rob Carr

I am enjoying retirement immensely.   Not having deadlines looming is lovely.

Our first stage of retirement is to re-explore our former duty station in Tirana, Albania.   One of the most fun things is taking walks in the parks around or near Tirana and then finding a magic park bench to pause, people watch, pet a friendly dog, refresh and enjoy.  Here are couple of photos of recent jaunts where a bench turned up that was noteworthy.

Do you have a favorite bench from a recent stroll?  If not, keep an eye out.

  1. I do have a favorite bench. If everyone sends in one picture of their favorite bench, we can have a collection of benches of the world.

  2. Thank you , Rob .. Beautiful write-up and lovely photos .. ....There is something about benches—they evoke a sense of rest after long walks, a quiet pause, and moments shared with loved ones. They are not just pieces of furniture, but places of reflection and connection. Happy retirement

  3. Nice story and photos. I was in Albania only a couple of days with Roger Moore in 1994, primarily to visit the salt mines, and we had no time for sightseeing. I remember the square and the wide boulevard where the hotel was, but I don't recall any benches. Yes, there is a mystique about benches, and I like Detlef's suggestion to have a feature on it. I certainly can contribute a photo to that.

    1. you can say you were working in the salt mines with 007 - how many people can say that? I will work on a bench challenge. I won't take it sitting down . Keep up the contributions Horst.
