Below is some quick information for your final preparations for your consideration. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is any further information that you might want to know in advance.
Entry Visas: By now you should have obtained your KAZA Univisa or Zimbabwe and Botswana Visas and submitted these to Shearwater Reservations.
Airport Transfers: Shearwater is providing all airport pick as part of the programme cost, therefore, by now you should have submitted your air tickets to Shearwaters and airport transfers confirmed.
Money Matters: Visa, Master Card, American Express can be used at the hotel and at most facilities in Victoria Falls. Banks and ATMs are also available. United States dollar is the main currency used in Victoria Falls. By now you should have fully paid for your accommodation and program costs.
Dress Code: wear lightweight, breathable clothing. Go more for neutral, earth-toned safari colours, especially for game viewing, as these blend well with nature - trousers and pants are also ideal. Wear sturdy and comfortable footwear with good grip as the rainforest paths can be wet from the falls mist. Be prepared for both wet and dry conditions, although not much rain is expected during this period. Light sweater for the evenings is recommended. Light raincoat or poncho for the rain and mist at the Victoria Falls rainforest is advisable - day raincoats are also hired for a few dollars at the entrance to the Falls. Sunhat, sunscreen and mosquito repellent for protection.
Weather: In March, Victoria Falls usually has very high temperatures and moderate rainfall. As the day progresses, monthly temperatures can peak at 30°C. At nightfall, they typically drop to 19°C. Victoria Falls in March usually receives moderate rainfall, averaging around 90 mm for the month. Typically, you can expect about 8 days of rain this month. Expect sunny days throughout the month, with an estimated 250 hours of sunshine. This makes it a pleasant time to visit Victoria Falls.
Elephant Hills Hotel: Check in time 14:00 hrs and check out time is 10:00 hours.
Electricity: International - Square pin - Type G 220V, as well as round plug. Adaptors are available on request from the hotel reception, subject to availability.
Medical Matters: please remember to carry your regular medications, however in the event of a shortage, there are reputable pharmacies in Victoria Falls. The Elephant Hills Hotel also has an onsite clinic for emergencies.
WhatsApp group: We will create a temporary XUNICEF Victoria Falls WhatsApp Group ahead of your travel, for ease of communication during the reunion, and also for sharing photos and videos of the fun, that will be posted on the Global XUNICEF Album!
Itinerary Outline: You should get a good copy in your welcome package; however, I am also attaching a copy as a reminder.
Registration Desk: On 7th March, there will be a registration desk in one of the hotel foyers, where you can register and collect your welcome pack.
