Hoping you will read and sign the below Avaaz petition defending UN Sp Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestine Territory Francesca Albanese.
This petition denounces the false attack on Albanese by the French and German foreign ministries. They are demanding her ouster from her position, based on words she did NOT say at a recent forum sponsored by Al Jazeera. She did NOT say that "Israel is the common enemy of humanity".
She did say that "the common enemy of humanity" is the global system that has facilitated the genocide in Gaza, naming financial supports, algorithms and weapons.
To refute the false allegations she posted her entire statement to X: https://x.com/FranceskAlbs/status/2020983308818186721?s=20.
This attack on Albanese is the latest in a string of attacks on the United Nations by the current Israeli gov't and its supporters since the Hamas 7 Oct 2023 attack on Israel, followed by Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza (and, increasingly, on Palestinians in the West Bank). It includes their defiance of two Int Court of Justice advisory opinions (that have the force of law but are not final) and ICC arrest warrants; relentless attacks on UNRWA including the killing of 391 of its staff in Gaza (by Feb 2026), the illegal demolishing of their Jerusalem compound, etc.
The siege on Gaza continues, with +600 killed by Israeli attacks since the Oct 2025 ceasefire. The total estimated death toll by the Gaza health ministry is +72,000, not counting thousands buried beneath the rubble. Israel's IDF has denied the accuracy of this accounting since the war began .... but in Jan of this year said it is "largely accurate" (https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-believes-70000-gazans-killed-in-war-as-claimed-by-hamas/).
Sp Rapporteur Albanese has been a courageous and measured voice on the Gaza disaster since it began, fully aligned with international law. For this work she was nominated last year Nobel Peace Prize by several organizations and individuals.
That effort, also supported last year by Avaaz, has been re-activated, now with +1 million signers! Pls consider signing this petition as well: https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/stand_with_francesca_4b_2_3/?fpla
(It's also an opportunity for the Nobel to compensate for its disgraceful 2025 peace prize debacle!)
Thank you!!

France and Germany Call for Resignation of UN Rapporteur Albanese; Global Campaign Pushes Back the Avaaz Team,
Avaaz Undated

France and Germany are preparing to formally call for the resignation of Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, at a UN session next week, citing accusations that have since been disputed by media outlets, Amnesty International, and UN experts.
The Trump administration previously sanctioned Albanese, restricting her ability to use credit cards and travel to the United States. Avaaz, a 70-million-person global campaign network, is circulating a petition opposing her resignation, noting that over one million supporters had previously nominated her for the Nobel Peace Prize.
France 24, Amnesty International, and AFP have each published reporting or statements defending Albanese against the specific accusations being cited by European governments.
Avaaz calls on supporters to sign a letter to the UN Human Rights Council by providing their email addresses and by amplifying the campaign via WhatsApp.
Avaaz
"She is a rare powerful voice for Palestinians — who speaks truth to power about Israel's genocide."
"When brave people take personal risks to speak truth to power, we must show them they are not alone."
France and Germany are absolutely right. Shame on Albanese!
