Iran Strikes: Early Reports of Children Killed in Schools

At least 85 girls aged seven to twelve were killed and 93 injured when a strike hit Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in the southern Iranian town of Minab as U.S. and Israeli warplanes attacked Iran on Saturday, the start of the local workweek. Many  parents had already dropped off their children at schools when the attacks began.

Of the 170 girls at the Minab school when the strike hit, many remain unaccounted for under the rubble. A surviving staff member told Middle East Eye she found children's bodies on classroom benches and in corners of the building.

second school in Tehran was also struck, killing two more students.

Iran's Red Crescent reports a broader toll of 201 dead and 747 injured across the country by early evening. Iran's foreign minister condemned the attacks as crimes against innocent children that "will not go unanswered," while U.S. Central Command said only that it was "looking into" reports of civilian harm.
