Pensions to rise in April

UN pensions on the Dollar track will rise by 2.7 per cent in April 2026, while those on the local Sterling track will go up by 3.4 percent. These figures reflect the movement in the consumer price indices of the USA and the UK, respectively, in the 12 months to December 2025.

UN Pension Scheme Review

Members may have heard that the General Assembly has requested a major review of the UN Pension Scheme. This will be undertaken by the UNJSPF Pension Board on which BAFUNCS has representation through its membership of FAFICS. The FAFICS delegation comprises several very experienced former staff.

This will no doubt be a protracted process and we will be sure to keep members informed as best we can, courtesy of the FAFICS delegation.

After-service Health Insurance – a chance to share your views

Following a survey two years ago on After-service Health Insurance and Long-term Care (ASHIL), in which nearly 100 BAFUNCS members participated, FAFICS is now launching a fresh enquiry related to specific aspects of ASHIL -- particularly on the level of satisfaction with claims processing by third party administrators like Cigna or by in-house operations. In contributing to this enquiry, BAFUNCS will draw on the results of the 2024 survey.

However, we would like to supplement this with the experiences of our members over the past two years. So if you have had any serious problems with health insurance claims recently, or perhaps have been impressed with the efficiency with which your claims have been handled, please let us know by clicking on the link below and sending us a message. We look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Thanks Rafah for sharing the good news!! Looks like there’ll be an increase of 2.7% for dollar trackers effective April 2026. And UK sterling trackers will get 3.4%. Not bad!! Any increase is a welcome change!!
