Chers collègues et amis
L'année 2025 qui va bientôt rejoindre le passé a été marquée par les guerres et les conflits avec les conséquences en perte de vies humaines et souffrances, par les désastres naturels qui ont frappé plusieurs régions du monde, par les inégalités sociales et économiques qui persistent, le bouleversement de l'ordre international et son impact et l'innovation technologique i.e l'intelligence artificielle….
Néanmoins malgré ces défis il ne faut pas perdre confiance et espoir. Regardons l'année 2026 qui s'annonce avec l'optimisme et la confiance de jours meilleurs, la fin des guerres en Ukraine, Gaza et Soudan ainsi que des conflits armés dans d'autres pays pour faire place à un environnement pacifique où s'épanouit la justice sociale.
Que l'année 2026 s'ouvre sur un horizon de paix, de solidarité et de justice sociale où la dignité humaine soit respectée et chaque pas vers l'avenir soit guidé par l'espérance. Avec l'arrivée de 2026 un nouveau sentier d'espoir vers un monde meilleur va s'ouvrir devant nous. Je souhaite qu'il soit sans embûches et que vous-même et les autres membres de votre famille puissiez continuer à marcher avec santé, joie et bonheur jusqu'à la fin du trajet.

Dear former colleagues and friends
As the year 2025 draws to a close it becomes part of the past. It was marked by wars and conflicts with their tragic toll in human sufferings and loss of life, by natural disasters that have struck many regions of the world; by persistent economic and social inequities, by the disruption of the international order and its far-reaching consequences and by a rapid technological innovation particularly of artificial intelligence.
Yet despite these challenges we must not lose confidence and hope. Let us welcome the year 2026 with renewed optimism and trust of better days ahead, the end of the wars in Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan as well as the armed conflicts in other countries of the world, giving way to a more peaceful global environment in which social justice may truly flourish.
May the year 2026 open before us a horizon of peace, solidarity, and social justice where human dignity is upheld and every step toward the future is guided by hope. With the arrival of the new year a new path toward a better world will unfold. I sincerely wish that this path be free of obstacles and that you, your children and all members of your family continue walking in good health with joy and happiness until the journey's end.
I extend to you and your family my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year.

Thank you Fritz for your wise words and positive spirit. It is what we wish for in a nutshell even as we look at new clouds in Venezuela and Nigeria. But may it be as hopeful as you say. Habib Hammam
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fritz, for your message. Hope is, of course, indispensable after a year as bleak as 2025. But while optimism comforts, realism instructs.
ReplyDeleteWe are unlikely to gather around a global campfire singing Kumbaya anytime soon. The emerging “new world order,” if it can even be called an order, is shaping up to potentially be harsher and less forgiving than the one it is replacing. In a multipolar world marked by U.S. retrenchment, European weakness, and increasingly assertive authoritarian powers, peace and social justice will not arise simply from good intentions.
If anything, this moment should prompt serious reflection about how we arrived here: the complacency, the strategic naivety, and the repeated assumption that norms, institutions, and prosperity would sustain themselves without power, credibility and sacrifice. Hope is necessary, but it must be accompanied by clarity, resilience, and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths.
Wishing you and all colleagues health and steadiness in 2026.
