  3. My very dear friend Ute was a cordial and permanent advocate for children rights. As a former fulltime worker for UNICEF in different countries she enriched our group of volunteers in Lörrach not only by sharing her knowledge, but also by spreading her enthusiasm for justice and wellbeing for kids. She motivated us to not give up the hope that our effort will make a change for children. For me Ute was a loyal and supporting friend. I will miss her warmheartedness , her power, her wise advice and her ability to build bridges- for example between UNICEF professionals and volunteers, between you and me. I miss her, but I’m grateful and happy that we became friends the day we first met 16 years ago. Since then we share wonderful memories..May she rest in peace and may the good seed for children and all human beings rise….

  4. I feel saddened by the loss of dear Ute, another of the cherished colleagues from the heyday of the growth of UNICEF in Africa in the 1980's. She was a special person with a constant positiveness to her and a gentle approach to issues. She was the kind of colleague that one misses working with once parted, but the memories remain. Our sincere condolences to her Family. May She Rest in Peace.

  9. Yes, Ute will be missed. We met at the 2009 reunion in Viareggio, and had interesting email exchanges ever since. She wrote very detailed and told me about her life. She was very active in her church, the choir and theatre groups , four NGOs and the UNICEF Committee. She loved her neighborhood and especially her sons and their families. On April 14 she sent me her last greeting, still hoping she would have a few months, but she passed ten days later. May she rest in peace.

"Dear Thomas, Nicolas and family members of my dear colleague and long time family friend Ute, we are truely saddened to learn that she has passed away!
I first met Ute when she served in UNICEF Abidjan and I in Accra,Ghana. One time she brought young Thomas to Accra where he and my son Sinnshaw played together at nearby beach. I still remember the photograph of the two black and blond haired innocents hugging each other that Ute had taken and later shared with us.
The last time that (my wife Zertihun and I met with Ute was at an xUNICEF reunion in Zanzibar . We had much catching up to do while also celebrating my birthday there among colleagues and their spouses etc.
Ute was an admirable person who took her UNICEF communications job seriously. She was very friendly and vibrant in her conversations with us. We will miss her.
May her soul rest in external peace.
