  1. Wow; that was so scripted. Poorly and dispassionately “read” from the teleprompter. Disappointing - but not surprising.

  2. Disappointing to say the least. Her lack of passion and enthusiasm is so evident. Why bother to arrange these things. Mary Racelis could have just read a written statement with better effect.

  3. Kudos to ED Russell, who made the effort in the midst of her hectic travels, to be with us on video the opening day of the Philippine Reunion. Has any other ExDir done that for a previous reunion? We retirees watched and listened with appreciation as she highlighted our dedication and contributions to UNICEF and the world's children. It was a great way to start the reunion.

If "Anonymous" would like more information -- and identify himself or herself -- check with the Reunion participants or the Country Organizing Group. We enthusiastically signed a poster the last day thanking her for joining us. Our New York signer is carrying it back to the US for mailing.

  4. A lovely reunion, no doubt, with people flying in from all around the world, the environmental footprint may have been a bit high, but then it only happens once a year. Yes, UNICEF was very good to us and the Philippines is a lovely place, particularly for the upper crust that we all belong to. I know, having been married for 50 years to a Filipina. I am sure you discussed the fact that the children in Africa are relatively poorer today than they were when UNICEF opened its first office there, even if the ED, in her lovely remarks, did not mention that. There would be colleagues, of lesser standing than the participants in the reunion, who would look forward to your reflections on that fact and how, with your wisdom, that could be addressed.

    1. The USAID is being closed down, the UK is halving its aid budget and UNICEF is celebrating a reunion. Is that what you call being tinn-eared?
