URGENT RESPONSE REQUESTED - CIGNA After Service Insurance Survey

UNICEF DHR has requested a XUNICEF member, Souleymane Diabate, to attend a meeting on CIGNA's insurance service at the UN Human Resources Global Shared Services Center from 18 to 20 March. HR is aware of complaints from still serving staff through the Global Staff Association over CIGNA's services. They would now like to hear as well from retired staff on CIGNA's After Service Health Insurance.

Souleymane has kindly agreed to report back via this website on the discussions and any decisions reached.  He will also share any documents distributed.

HR Benefits Section is gathering information to make sure services offered are adequate, comprehensive and are addressing needs of beneficiaries. They have asked Souleymane via XUNICEF to collect responses. The form linked below asks personal details of the respondents. We understand that this information is needed for their follow-up.

Given the very short time available, we ask members to respond as soon as possible and not later than Sunday, 10 March. If you choose to respond to the questionnaire, simply click "Submit" at the end of the form. Do not send replies to News & Views, as we will not be able to forward them to HR via Souleymane.

Many thanks.

  1. Less than 24 hours to comment. I see the feedback timelines haven’t changed at unicef!

  2. Cigna refused my claim of a CPAP machine ifor $1000 n 2022, inspite of Dr's prescription of sleep apnea, and sleep study report. Cigna gave a reason, you don't need CPAP machine. I too became complacent about using it. In 2024, I reached a life threatening breathing problem. My sleep study indicated moderate to severe apnea. In 2023 I sought reimbursement for the same machine. Cigna said now your invoice is too old. If I bought a new machine, they would have reimbursed. Cigna sees all bills with a lense, how not to pay rather than how to pay. Shikha Wadhwa, Unicef India retiree 270/093860. I want reimbursement of my CPAP machine.

  3. I have to see a dental surgeon for a biopsy only to be told they no longer accept Cigna.
These surgeons were recommended by my Dr. Dentist.
I need a biopsy….then further checking I’m told they no longer accept any insurance from the UN. What is going on. This is urgent for me.does anyone know.?
