Although this article doesn’t deal directly with children, it is important as it shows an alarming reduction in the space allowed by governments for public discourse and dissent.  

Of particular interest is the fact that two of the three areas where the greatest backlash is felt are women’s rights and lobbying for climate action.  You might have seen, for example, the article in The NY Times on the high probability that the Gambia parliament will overturn the law forbidding FGM, and if it does, the expectation that other African countries will follow suit.
