Following reports that senior figures of the right-wing party 'AfD' held discussions on deporting citizens of foreign origins, citizens in all major cities and many small towns across Germany took part in public demonstrations and protests. Today in the city of Aachen we found ourselves near a group that called itself 'Omas gegen Rechts', which in the context translates into 'grandmothers against far-right extremism'.
Since last week, a million people in Germany have been demonstrating against facism and racism.
Tomorrow we will join another protest in the smaller town of Monschau, where we live
Grandfathers are also involved.
Great-Grandmothers were also there - against the Nazi-pest.
Nobody is too old to protest. Grey hair is no excuse. Whining does not help.

ReplyDeletePerhaps we should remind ourselves that the policies of MAGA Republicans are, if not identical, very similar to those of the AFD. That mainstream Republicans are now rallying behind Trump may mean that half the US electorate support policies similar to AFD's. That is a bigger worry.
