Palestine : The UN's failures in Palestine and why he quit : Craig Mokhiber / People's Dispatch / Maie Ayoub von Kohl
Warm greetings dear colleagues.
For sharing with our community (unless already shared and I missed it) the following video: In the words of a UN civil servant of 31 years.
With best regards,
Maie
Senior UN Human Rights official Craig Mokhiber recently resigned over the organization's failure to address the brutal genocide in Gaza and Israel's apartheid policies against Palestinians.
In this interview with Vijay Prashad, he talks about how the UN failed the people of Palestine over the decades and how the UN moved away from the principled norms-based approach rooted in international law when it came to the question of Palestine.
Mokhiber explains the role played by countries such as the United States in this shift. He also says that hope lies in the massive demonstrations that are taking place across the world in solidarity with the people of Palestine and against the Israeli genocide.

Post Oslo, agencies happily started “infringing” on UNRAWA mandate. Perhaps thinking that elements of a Country Programme now need to be introduced to the landscape. Coming to the present situation, if the UN and its associates are being ineffective and have failed, a “dignified” face saving” could be to formally withdraw and keep supplies flowing, when possible!

Dear Maie, thank yo for posting this video which I have not seen. I learned a lot and agree with most. One part I am puzzled is his views on "Two State solution ". I realized I do.not know enough about that agreement to judge , if he is right or wrong. What are your views? Can you offer explanations ? Bilge
