I have no words, only tears of happiness and relief. This is something we all fought for, dreamed of, felt powerless about but always hopeful. What joy to see the Namazi’s reunited. Now the healing begins. I wonder if Baquer would like to convene a Zoom meeting for XUNICEF friends to celebrate this extraordinary event — maybe in a couple of weeks. Tom, is this something you could explore?
my dearest friends All members of the family are deeply, very deeply and profoundly grateful for the solid sustained support of the bigger family members. Cannot find words to express my feelings. God bless all of you Baquer
I was so so happy when I saw the news this morning, news that we have waited for so long and that Siamak and his family have hoped and prayed for for the last 8 years. His statement are is but impressive and moving. Warm regards to everybody Karin
Fantastic news! The whole family reunited after such a protracted ordeal. Thank goodness negotiations and humanity won through. But I was also very moved by Siamak's plea not to forget those left behind. Best wishes to all, Maggie
Siamak’s release and reunion with his family is wonderful news. We share the joy of Baquer and the entire Namazi family that the ordeal is finally over. Wishing all the best for the family Misrak
In case anyone has not yet seen the photos of the Namazi family reunited at last ! The flight arrived just after 5 a.m. this morning at a military airfield south of Washington, D.C. https://xunicefnewsandviews.blogspot.com/2023/09/siamak-namazi-home-at-last-namazi.html
Thank you Tom, for sending around these photos. I cried of joy, when I saw them the first time, as a mother of UN children of dual nationality. Cheers! ________
Celebration is in order! Delighted to see Siamak free at last. The Namazi Family is finally reunited after years of agony. Wishing them good health, peace and happiness!
I watched on CNN Siamak's arrival in Doha with a great deal of emotion - that his terrible and undeserved ordeal was finally over. I couldn't be happier for him, for Baquer,, and for all of the family.
What a long journey for the Namazis and what a tremendous effort by XUNICEF. Thank you for compiling this detailed and visuallly interesting timeline, Tom. A Zoom call would indeed be wonderful. I feel a bit of calm in my heart that does not happen too frequently these days.
It is great pleasure to unite with past colleagues and friends. It is always a personal pleasure to support any effort by a fellow UN family in their effort to seek fairness and justice; even more so when some juistice is coming our friend’s way, We are among those who had the opportunity to work closely with Namazi in his UNICEF days. We are very happy to share these days with Effie and family.
