The Yellow Submarine: Detlef Palm

Everybody knows the Yellow Submarine song; you probably can hum the melody. There have been many interpretations of what the Beatles were trying to convey, besides recording what could be a children's song and composing something that Ringo Starr was able to sing. Some say it was meant to be a protest against the Vietnam War (which the Beatles denied, unfortunately). Others hold that it was code for some psychedelic drug on account of the colour and shape of its capsule (also fake news).

It is little known, however, that a yellow submarine was actually built and used in considerable oceanic depth, one year before the Beatles published their song. The yellow submarine exists!

I took a picture of the yellow submarine, recently, and blurred the background so as not to give away its current location.

Here is the puzzle: where do you have to travel to find the yellow submarine?

In case you have no idea what I am talking about, click the video below, and play it to your children and grandchildren.

  1. I think one needs to travel to Pepperland. (But then, I'm Only Sleeping, and life goes on within you and without you ....). Smiles.

  2. My guess is that this is the "yellow submarine" developed by the French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. If so, it is supposed to be in the village of L'Estaque near Marseille, France.

  3. I love Jacques Cousteau and grew up with his TV adventures and the Calypso! I believe his yellow submarine is still in a museum in Monte Carlo 😊
