On Wednesday this week we posted the article below based on an Instagram post in the name of Angelina Jolie and attached to a montage of the faces of 35 of the many Iranian children killed in the crackdown by authorities on demonstrations. The quote attributed to Jolie is likely to have come originally from UNICEF, and was perhaps echoed at some point by Jolie: "Children have the right to protection from all kinds of harm. They also have a right to a voice."
The question, however, is not so much whether Angelina Jolie made the statement, but whether she did so in connection with the recent deaths of children in Iran. Also, whether she attached her name to the photo montage.
The Instagram post was then picked up and amplified repeatedly on Twitter by people thanking Jolie for her concern and asking once again, "Where is UNICEF?"
One of our editorial team noted that Angelina Jolie was reported to not be posting any public comments these days. A further search revealed that according to the Daily Mail, "Angelina Jolie has never had a social media account in her name.......There are dozens of fake 'Angelina Jolie' accounts circulating on Instagram."
We then took down the post. Some readers, however, may have seen the post in their daily Follow.it account. We apologize for any confusion. Fake or not, however, the posts reflect the real anger and upset among people concerned over the apparent inability of international agencies to stop the killing.

Thanks to Angelina Jolie for shining light on the large number of children & teenagers killed in Iran during protest against regime. Some families of the victims have been forced to give False confessions on state TV. Where is @UNICEF? Iranian children have no voice.#MahsaAmini pic.twitter.com/KJlHnPY5sY— Masih Alinejad 🏳️ (@AlinejadMasih) November 21, 2022
