Indonesia : UPDATED - UNICEF is Looking For an Experienced Chief of Health to Fill a Temporary Vacancy at P5 Level for @ 4 months : Danielle Koster / Oscar Fernandez

"Our Chief Health (Sowmya, now in copy) will be leaving at the end of October and we have started the recruitment but anticipate we’ll have a gap until end of the year/into January. Ideally we’d like to have someone cover that period, and potentially a few weeks earlier. I’m sharing the email with our advert as the role is the same.

This is a P5 level post and we’d be looking for an experienced Chief of Health who can hold the fort and lead the team for a few months while we identify and bring onboard the next chief.

We’re open with respect to the modality – TA or consultancy – once we find the right person we’ll figure out what works best."

Dear Oscar,

I hope this message finds you well. 

 My name’s Danielle and I’m the HR Manager supporting Indonesia, Malaysia and Timor-Leste. In Indonesia our Chief of Health will be leaving to take on a regional advisor role in MENA, and with our Dep Rep Programmes also leaving we are quite concerned on filling the gap while we recruit long-term. 

 We have a very big and demanding portfolio in Indonesia. We’ve advertised the position and are doing outreach to attract good applicants, but will also need to find someone to fill the gap between when our Chief leaves and we finalize our recruitment. 

 We’re doing outreach and will also try to post a stretch assignment, but we really need someone with a very strong health background, an experienced Chief (not an aspiring Chief), to help us fill the gap. We were thinking of trying to identify a recent retiree with a background as Chief Health, and so I am reaching out to you as I understand you’re coordinating the retiree network. 

 Perhaps you have some ideas of recent retirees who may be interested in supporting our programme in Indonesia for a few months? Please give it some thought and let me know and of course it would be great to set up a call to discuss if convenient.
