How old do you feel?

It depends- today, I feel I am 65 years old, though I am much older!

Where do you live?

Bangalore , India

What book do you currently read?

Reading two actually: The Lords of the Deccan and This is How They Tell Me The World Ends

If you could travel without restrictions, where would you go?

Brazil, Spain and Portugal

Your best experience with UNICEF?

As National Officer, working alongside colleagues in the Government of India in the formulation of national and sub-national policies and programmes for the girl child, as well as in SAARC with UNICEF colleagues in South Asia. This prepared me for my role in the Gender and Development Section, in Programme Division, UNICEF NY.

Your biggest challenge when working for UNICEF?

First, sensitive understanding of the discrimination faced by women and girls across cultures; managing informed advocacy; influencing policy and programme development for change impacting equality.

What is your biggest fear, in relation to the future of children?

Growing disparities everywhere

What is your greatest hope, in relation to children?

Local leaders (women and men) will be empowered to bring about change in children’s lives.

What is your one piece of advice you wish to give to the UNICEF Executive Director:

National policies, notwithstanding, give priority to initiatives that will enable and strengthen communities to commit resources and actions to fulfill the rights of Every Child, without discrimination.
