When I went to Mozambique as a young doctor, I continued photographing but stopped when I later joined UNICEF.
Recently, I decided to return to photography. So I bought a digital camera and attended a workshop in Istanbul run by two professional photographers working for the photo agency VII ('7').
The frames here are part of a larger series I have been shooting in recent months around Barbarano Romano, a village in northern Lazio. I have tried to capture rural life, moved 50 sheep from one place to another over the hilly terrain, shot the sole coffee bar in the village (sadly closed because of Covid 19 restrictions), went with my dog to the vet office, witnessed grapes and olives harvest, visited the local carpenter shop, and met interesting people and their little daughter.
It has been a time of growing pandemic-related anxieties but also a time of simple but most enjoyable moments.
My next shooting will focus on the reopening, as Italy vaccinated the majority of its population, the pandemic is getting controlled and human activities are restarting.

Thanks Gianni for sharing those lovely photos of a life simply lived and obviously enjoyed in a slow pace and healthy environment. A sweet distraction from the urban tempo. Stay well. Maissa Hamed
