2021 Annual Report : UNICEF / Rima Salah

Warm Wishes,
Rima

2020 was a year like no other. As we mark UNICEF's 75th year, the report makes clear that more is needed as we continue the fight against COVID-19
UNICEF 75 years

Dear Khaing Soe,

2020 was a year like no other. School closures, increased vulnerability to abuse, mental health strains and loss of access to vital services have hurt children deeply. But not all children have been affected equally. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed deep inequalities that have existed for too long. As we see from the ongoing effects of COVID-19, this impact continues now.

Read the Annual Report
Despite daunting challenges to children, young people and to UNICEF staff worldwide, in 2020, UNICEF responded to the crises stemming from COVID-19, including:
  • Leadership in the COVAX Facility, resulting in the financing of COVID-19 vaccines for 92 low- and middle-income countries and preparing countries to deliver the vaccine.
  • Critical WASH services and supplies for 106 million people.
  • Risk communication and public information to reach 3 billion people.
  • Personal protective equipment for nearly 2.6 million health workers.
  • More than 301 million children with remote learning.
  • Response to 455 humanitarian situations in 152 countries beyond COVID-19.
As we mark UNICEF's 75th year, the report makes clear that more is needed as we continue the global fight against COVID-19.

"UNICEF is proud to be part of this extraordinary period of global recovery, standing with children and our partners with hope and optimism."
