ED Fore: A moment in history in which we have to change things

On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, ED Fore called on our global personnel to make UNICEF the most inclusive and diverse organization it can possibly be and continue our efforts to secure a world for children free of racism and discrimination.

“From attacks against people of Asian descent, to violence against Black men and women, to the profiling of Muslims and the oppression of indigenous peoples – these incidents are a manifestation of the entrenched systemic inequalities and biases that are taught from one generation to the next,” she said. “Children and young people have the unique power to break this chain of hatred.”

The ED also highlighted UNICEF’s internal Task Team on Anti-Racism and Discrimination, whose work will help us deliver for children in a way that is free of racism and discrimination.

Read her full message here and check out her interview with Young UNICEF representative, Sameen Wajid, on dismantling racism and discrimination in UNICEF.

Feel free to also read UN Secretary-General António Guterres' letter to staff on racism.

World Water Day 2021 – Why is Water So Precious?

Water is life! Yet, only 3% of the world's water is freshwater, and less than 1% is accessible for human consumption.

We want to hear why water is important to you! What’s the word for water in your language?

💧 In Swahili, it's "Maji ni maisha!" Water is life!

💧 In Danish, it's "Vand."

💧 In Ghana, it's "Nsuo."

💧 In Gujarati, water is "Pani."

Watch UNICEF colleagues from all around the world sharing what water means to them. The video is made entirely from their footage and answers on Yammer.

For inspiration, follow this rich, engaging thread in the Supply Community, share a short message, a picture or 10-second video about why water is essential to you and post it in the conversation! Include the hashtag #Water2me.

Hit a 👍 and tag at least two colleagues to do the same!
