COVID-19: Missing More Than a Classroom

New report explores the impact of school closures on children's nutrition

39 billion in-school meals missed since the start of the pandemic

new joint report by UNICEF Innocenti and the World Food Programme warns of a looming nutrition crisis as more than 39 billion in-school meals have been missed since the start of the pandemic. School meals are critical in ensuring children's health, nutrition, and return to school. Both UNICEF and WFP are calling on governments to prioritise reopening schools.

Does being a victim of bullying lower school performance?

Despite the pervasiveness and negative impacts of bullying, there is little evidence available from low- and middle-income countries. Our new study uses data from 15 countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region to determine the negative impacts of school-related violence on education.

Trends, promising practices and gaps in remote learning for pre-primary education

Over 180 million children had their pre-primary schooling disrupted due to COVID-19. Our new report shows promising practices based on 10 case studies from around the world.
 

Children are bearing a disproportionate burden of the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to this unprecedented crisis for children, UNICEF Innocenti is mobilizing a rapid research response to provide the evidence needed to respond.
