There have been a number of posts recently by members of XUNICEF and your News about:
- the CRC and
- IBFAN's Counter-Call which asked WHO and UNICEF and concerned NGOs to disassociate themselves from the Breastmilk Substitutes (BMS) Call to Action. This 'Call' undermines the International Code of Marketing of BMS, thus adopting typical industry tactics.
It seems to me that many members of XUNICEF may like to buy this book. It is paperback, 128 pages, 172x111mm, RRP £8.99, ISBN 9781780665252.
I am reminded of a brilliant passage that brings these two issues together. "The Convention on the Rights of the Child states (Article 57) that all segments of society have the right to knowledge of breastfeeding. When this knowledge is drowned in a constant stream of commercial untruths, blandishments and bribery, this right is destroyed. This is what is ghastly.”
This passage comes right at the end of an excellent small book by Gabrielle Palmer: Why The Politics Of Breastfeeding Matter. Published by Pinter & Martin in 2016. It is a concise updated version of her internationally acclaimed The Politics of Breastfeeding, first published in 1988.

The publisher says I am “more than welcome to quote the closing sentences” from the book, and says that for worldwide delivery it can be purchased from:

Or in the US and UK from Amazon, or bookshops of course.
