Each week we present the works of one of the XUNICEF photographers or artists represented in our galleries. This week we feature the works of Ramesh Shrestha.
Click on the first image in the slideshow below. Be patient - each slide takes about 10 seconds to load, but the first slide often takes a little longer to load.
Also be sure to visit our Instagram page and the galleries of all of our contributing XUNICEF Artists and Photographers.
For this week's slideshow we have combined photos contributed by Ramesh in two series of travel photos - the Puerto Moreno Glaciers and Iguazu Falls.
Puerto Moreno Glaciers - Patagonia, Argentina
I am sharing some pictures I took of Puerto Moreno glaciers in Patagonia, Argentina in February 2020.
We hear of stories and worries about melting glaciers and rising sea levels. In Calafate I saw several catamarans with tourists come very close to the glaciers. Catamarans produce a lot of heat and smoke, which damage the glaciers. Should the governments allow Catamarans operate so close to glaciers (not just in Patagonia but in all other countries with glaciers)?
I also saw people walking on the glaciers.

This particular glacier is 5 km in width and 30 km in length and opens up in Lake Argentina.
Iguazu Falls - on the border of the Argentina and Brazil
Iguazu falls is among the top four falls in the world; the other three being Victoria falls, Niagara Falls, and Angels fall. It consists of 275 individual falls spreading over almost 3 km width between Brazil and Argentina.
About 2km is in Argentine side. It can be viewed from both sides. There are viewing spots and walking bridges on both sides.
Average annual discharge is 62 cft/second. During rainy season it discharges much more. The highest recorded water discharge was on 9th June 2014 – a spectacular 1.6 mil cft/second. Here are some pictures taken in February 2020.
