BBC: US succeeds in diluting rape-in-war resolution following veto threat

"Recognizing the importance of providing timely assistance to survivors of sexual violence, urges United Nations entities and donors to provide non-discriminatory and comprehensive health services, in line with Resolution 2106"

After joining with China and Russia in opposing a Security Council resolution on rape as a weapon of war, the US succeeded in forcing sponsors to drop two of its elements:
* a monitoring mechanism
* the sentence quoted above on provision of 'comprehensive health services'

The US viewed the sentence as endorsing provision of abortion services for rape victims.
