UNICEF
Catherine Russell opened the Executive Board - read her remarks.

ExBoard - The US Mission to the UN is back in action denouncing UNICEF's documentation at the Executive Board 

Restructuring - According to a DEVEX article shared by several members, UNICEF staff, and particularly those in Europe, are pushing-back against plans for cuts in staffing, restructuring and office mergers.  Among other points, staff argue that there was insufficient consultaton and discussion.  Moreover, that the cuts and mergers endanger fundraising and risk abandoning children in need in wealthy countries.

Kul Gautam praises the 'on the ground in Gaza' reporting by James Elder and points to one very memorable quote by James, "When the killing and maiming of children ceases to shock, we are no longer witnessing a tragedy, we are complicit in it." 

In an "Update on Western Sahel" Tom McDermott examines the danger to child welfare and basic services posed by the growth of the al-Qaeda affiliate, JNIM.

UNFPA issued the World Population Report 2025 which this year examines the mismatch between the number of children people want and have. 

Mini-Reunion -  Myra Rudin and Sylvia Roth met up at New York's Grand Central Station.
