FOR ALL FORMER STAFFERS (AND THE NOT-YET-FOSSILIZED)
Editors at XUNICEF are our strategic co-pilots, making sure the collective brilliance, experience and leftover institutional memory of former staff are put to excellent use. All this follows sound journalistic management principles, lofty goals, well-meaning priorities and a shared determination to deliver News & Views on children, development, humanitarian action and a generous handful of other important things.
Over the past eight years, our ecosystem has evolved at impressive speed. It is now more dynamic, more complex and, on certain days, unintentionally hilarious. Thanks to our ever-expanding geographical and operational reach, we now boast over 1,000 members in more than 100 countries, including several that required Google Maps and a moment of reflection.
To deliver on our Strategic Plan, meet its targets, stretch its ambitions and keep up with the rising expectations of our members, we are seeking preferably awake talent to help strengthen the cherished Ties That Bond Us. If you care about making a difference and possess the skills to help amplify these messages, we warmly invite you to apply and join our quietly impactful team.
Considering Joining and Holding On? Listen to Tom Waits:
Category Type: Anyone with a connection to XUNICEF and its global mandate. No age limit, although curiosity and Wi-Fi literacy are strongly encouraged.
Workload: One weekly virtual meeting, never exceeding one hour unless someone forgets to mute. Plus a rotating role as Editor of the Week.
Position Level: E5–E6. These are purely theoretical levels of responsibility that no one has ever successfully explained.
Entitlements: None we can formally offer, aside from companionship, connection and the comforting knowledge that others remember how UNICEF acronyms work.
Salary: Symbolic.
Duty Station: Wherever you currently operate. Den, living room, bedroom, kitchen table or secret lair. Dress code optional.
References: We refer to one another as friends and colleagues, and that is usually sufficient.

NB: For the love of all that is multilateral, why are we struggling to attract newer and younger talent to carry this blog and News & Views forward? We deeply value our esteemed colleagues with 25 to 30 years of retirement experience, but we are urgently seeking editors who retired no more than ten years ago, still remember their WLAN password and occasionally read online news.
